September 18th, 2010 - NROTC TREATS WOUNDED WARRIORS TO CHESAPEAKE BAY CRUISE & CRAB FEAST
NROTC coordinated an event that brought some much needed recreational therapy to eight wounded troops and their spouses. The event was hosted by Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis, Maryland. The troops were invited from the Warrior Transition Unit and Kimbrough Ambulatory Center at Fort George G. Meade. The Welcome Honors Line was formed by the American Legion Riders from Laurel Post #60.

Our honored guests were first treated to a tour by water of the U.S. Naval Academy. Coincidentally our boat just happened to be at the right place at the right time, at the starting line, when the Naval Academy and West Point Cadets kicked off a sailboat race. Then a cruise on the Chesapeake Bay. Pictured to the right are some of our guests on the Bay with Thomas Point Lighthouse in the background.

The cruise was followed-up by a splendid outdoor crab feast on the grounds of Eastport Yacht Club. Our honored guests were introduced and members of the Yacht Club each had a chance to express their gratitude and best wishes to our guests, one on one. NROTC presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Eastport Yacht Club for hosting the event. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to each honored guest along with a dozen each, "Get Well Soon" cards, with personal notes of thanks and encouragement, which had previously been signed and returned by various NROTC donors. Pictured to the right, NROTC President Tom Ruley holds up a couple nice-sized crabs in the background. It was a beautiful day for a cruise and a crab feast. Everyone really enjoyed themselves!
