We understand that the reason for requesting a GOLD STAR Service Banner is a very emotional one.
If your loved one was killed in action or died while on active duty at any time on or after September 11th, 2001 to present, we wish to extend our deepest sympathy
and it will be our honor and privilege to see that you receive your "Gold Star Service Banner" as a symbol of America's shared grief
in your loss.
It is by the gracious donations of foundations, ordinary citizens and the business community, that we are able to do this. A "Gold Star Service
Award" certificate will also be included with your Gold Star Service Banner.
Our hearts and prayers are with you as you hang the Gold Star in honor of your fallen hero.
It is our responsibility to insure that these Gold Star Service Banners are treated with great respect, and go only to those
people or organizations that are qualified to display them. Please take a minute to read the following before submitting
your application.
The Department of Defense, DOD, defines eligible members of the immediate family as wife, husband, mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, parent
through adoption, foster parent, son, daughter, stepchild, children through adoption, brothers, sisters, half-brothers and half-sisters.
Sorry, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Cousins, Fiancees and Inlaws do NOT qualify.
According to the DOD, the Service Banner may "also be displayed by an organization" to honor the members of that organization serving
or KIA while in the Armed Forces of the United States during any period of war or hostilities. Organizations as outlined by the DOD
are churches, schools, colleges, fraternities, sororities, societies, and places of business with which the member of the Armed Forces
of the United States was or is associated.
We receive many requests for Service Banners for veterans and military service members KIA from previous wars/conflicts. Please be advised that the
Department of Defense authorizes the display of Service Banners for CURRENT wars or crises, not past events.
You are eligible if your loved one was killed or died while serving, from causes other than dishonorable. A death does not have to be
combat related or confined to either Iraq or Afghanistan. The military service member must have died while in active duty service, and during
the current national emergency, "The Global War On Terrorism". This means the death must have occurred after September 11th, 2001.
The qualifying branches of service are Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard including active duty service, THIS MEANS
ACTIVATED, National Guard and Reserve.
We are only able to provide "One Family Member Of Each Military Service Member" with a free Gold Star Service Banner and Certificate,
and this only when our donations received allow us to do so. We try to see
that the primary relative is the recipient. In the case of widows/widowers or mothers and fathers for example, this can sometimes be a
difficult decision. To avoid any misunderstandings, please consult with other family members if you think it might be appropriate,
prior to submitting your application.

A Gold Star Service Banner request is a very delicate and heartrending matter. When we get a request for a Gold Star Service
Banner we check with the
DOD to confirm the death. We do this with dignity and respect.
Limit: One Service Banner and Certificate per Fallen Hero's family, sorry
