Welcome To

NROTC's TABLE REP ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PAGE

  • $300 to $500 in your Donation Box in 5 or 6 hours is NOT uncommon!... Larger events can net $1,000 in the box!

  • After each table setup, or weekly on Monday mornings, send a money order for your TOTAL DONATIONS to NROTC from any Post Office.

  • NROTC pays you a very generous commission rate. Average earnings are $13.30 per hour.

  • NROTC issues commission checks, less payroll withholdings, on all donation dollars raised by you and received at NROTC weekly.

  • Commission checks are Direct Deposited into your personal checking account weekly on Mondays.

  • Withdraw any amount when needed from any ATM, anywhere in the USA.

  • This is a real W-2 job and NOT Independent Contractor.

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT... Nonprofit organizations are regulated by the IRS and various state agencies. IRS considers any paid fundraiser for a nonprofit who is NOT an actual employee, to be an Independent Fundraiser or Fundraising Firm. As such, any Independent Fundraiser or Fundraising Firm is subject to an entirely different set of complicated regulations including seperate burdensome state registration and bonding requirements. This is why you are hired as an actual W-2 Employee and not an Independent Contractor.

For all intents and purposes, as an employee of NROTC you are operating under our umbrella and you will not have to comply with most regulatory requirements excepting how you represent yourself and NROTC while in public.

You will enjoy most all of the freedoms associated with being self-employed, while having support from the NROTC staff. You are free to work your own schedule on times and at locations of your choice, be it full-time or part-time. We are happy if you only give us one day per week!

This is a "Straight Commission", "Outside Sales" job. Many people do not understand "Outside Sales" as it applies to "Federal Minimum Wage Requirements". The fact is that "Outside Sales" jobs are exempt from having to comply with "Federal Minimum Wage Requirements". While your average earning should exceed minimum wage, being paid at least minimum wage is NOT guaranteed. To learn more about this "Outside Sales" exemption, CLICK HERE

We are here to help you as much as we can but please understand that this is an employer/employee relationship and we do have the right to require that you conduct your activities as per our instructions, rules and guidelines.

Your "Tablerep Agreement" which is part of your "Employment Paperwork Packet" found at the bottom of this page, will spell out all of these details in writing.

YOUR DONATION TABLE SETUP SUPPLIES:

Remember, You MUST supply your own 4', 5' or 6' portable/collapsible table. If you don't have one, Walmart has a nice one for about $30.00. You will be needing a Donation Container of some sort and other items to put on your table.

YOU DESIGN YOUR OWN TABLE

Get yourself an empty plastic pretzel jar, an Ammo Box or something similar to use as your donation container. Print out and affix one of our "DONATE HERE" graphics to it. Then just print out a few of our "Table Display Cards" and you are good to go... You have designed your own table.

NROTC WILL BE SENDING YOUR THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE POSTCARDS, AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE CREDENTIAL AND PLASTIC CREDENTIAL HOLDER AT NO CHARGE.

  • You will follow our simple phone script.

  • To find places where you can obtain permission to setup your donation table, go to: www.yellowpages.com and search "Grocery Stores" in your city or ANY city for that matter.

  • GOOGLE "Events and Fairs in (State, City or whatever)" ... You will not run out of places to call!

  • You will have total control over how many table setups you do, the times and days, the venue and the location of each.

  • When you book a table setup, you will be expected to show up on time and work until the agreed-upon departure time.

  • When you are ready to begin booking your stores and events, you will need to install a little program on your computer. We will guide you through the install.

DONATION TABLE GRAPHICS AND OTHER MATERIALS

Note: You will print any of our 8.5" x 11" graphics directly from your computer and printer. You will notice that some of these files below are 11" X 17". This is standard Ledger Size and any office supplies store should be able to print these out for you in color glossy for about a dollar each. Download your 11' x 17" graphics to a thumb-drive, take them to an office supplies store and get them printed-out. 11' x 17" Display Cards get more attention.

While at the office supplies store, if you want, get yourself some foamboard, an exacto blade knife and some spray glue to mount your graphics. You might want to pickup some picture frames or other easels or display stands... Be creative!

These Acrylic Picture Frames found at most office supplies stores work great!

YOU WILL NOT NEED TO USE EVERY DISPLAY CARD OR BANNER BELOW!!!...

TWO OR THREE DISPLAY CARDS IS TYPICALLY PLENTY!

WARNING:

Unauthorized or non-employee use of the following graphics or materials is prohibited!

After you are hired, we will direct you to a webpage where you can ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD all of our graphics and such!

HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE:

DISPLAY OUR VEHICLE DONATION CARD ON YOUR TABLE...

AND GET $50.00 FOR EVERY VEHICLE DONATION!

All you do is gather the Donor's contact information and send it to us... We do the rest!

You'll be surprised how many vehicle donations we get!

NROTC's Recurring Donation Program allows donors to give on a monthly basis and you continue to be paid commissions on each monthly recurring donation as long as you remain in our employ. This is a great way to build a RESIDUAL INCOME!

Spanish for: There are many local homeless latino veterans... PLEASE HELP

Many people say they are short on cash and ask if they can donate with their credit or debit card. If you have a smart phone we'll send you "The Square" at no charge. You'll have it in a couple days. Install the simple APP and you are good to go!... If you do not have a smart phone, we recommend you get one.

To order "The Square" from NROTC... EMAIL US

OPTIONAL 20" X 30" FOAMBOARD DISPLAY

Get yourself a sheet of 20" x 30" Foamboard at any office supplies store for about $5.00 and make a "Postcard Comments" Display like the one above.

This 20" X 30" display can act like a sail on a windy day and they can get a little messed-up blowing down the parking lot. A simple art easel may NOT do the job. You will want something a little more heavy-duty.

Here is a simple solution and the nice thing about this is that it hinged on the top and it folds for easy carrying and stowing in the backseat or trunk of your car. Just get yourself a piece of 3/4 plywood or shelving and make your own. Spray gluing your foamboard directly to your plywood stand works great. Some of our tablereps are using a plastic milk crate for their foamboard easel with a brick in it to add a little weight and a little clear packing tape. They also use the milk crate to carry their table supplies to and from their car.

OTHER IMPORTANT MATERIALS
NROTC 3-UP HANDOUT

(Stamp or print your name on the lower back of each to receive commissions when donations arrive at NROTC)
NROTC TRIFOLD

(Stamp or print your name on the bottom left to receive commissions when donations arrive at NROTC)

(Print page one and page two back-to-back)

DONATION RECEIPT

Use carbon paper and staple two of these together. Send the original to NROTC with donation and give the donor a copy. Use this for One-Time Donations or Recurring Donations. Only donors who give $75.00 or more are required to receive a receipt.

CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION

Print these out and feel free to give one to any donor!... These certificates can also be a great gratuity or incentive item to have on your table to encourage a donor to give more substantially!
(Print them on card stock or glossy paper for best results)
NROTC's (12 Page Presentation Book) SALES KIT

NROTC's SALES KIT is a great tool and we recommend that you always have this with you for that potential donor who would really like to know more about us before they donate.

Grab your Sales Kit and go Business to Business Cold Calling.

Download our Field Sales Script after you are hired.

HERE IS A GREAT IDEA!...

And another great way to build a RESIDUAL INCOME!

HAVE YOUR OWN DONATION BOX ROUTE!!!

Has these great inexpensive cardboard boxes:

Here is your Small Donation Box with graphics affixed:

Here is your Medium Donation Box with graphics affixed:

Affix this graphic to the back of each box

Almost any location where there are people will work. Have these boxes working for you when you are not working!... Have you ever watched the TV show "Deadliest Catch"?... Working these boxes is a lot like crabbing. Drop your boxes anywhere you think might be good. Give them awhile to "SOAK". Then go back and "Pull Your Boxes". Empty out the contents. Drop your box back in... OR... if you are disappointed with your catch... drop your box somewhere else. The more boxes you have soaking, the better your catch will be!

BANNERS:

BANNERS ARE NOT DISPLAY CARDS... THEY ARE MUCH LARGER.

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PURCHASE BANNERS!!!

Banners have a cost associated with them. Only purchase a Banner if you feel it will be to your benefit and bring extra donation dollars to your table. Banners do add to the professional appearance of your table or booth. Save any of the graphic files to your thumb-drive and take them to a local printer who prints on vinyl. Sign technology is really good these days and you'll end up with a very nice vinyl banner. Be sure to have them add grommets to each corner. A 24" X 30/36" banner usually costs about $40.00... Larger Banners usually cost more.

KEEP IN MIND THAT TYPICAL TABLES LEGS ARE 29" IN HEIGHT. IF YOU PLAN ON USING A BANNER ON THE FRONT OF YOUR TABLE... USE A BANNER THAT IS "24" INCHES IN HEIGHT. BANNERS LARGER THAN 24" IN HEIGHT ARE INTENDED TO BE USED AS BACKDROPS... BEHIND YOUR TABLE.

ORDER GRATUITY ITEMS

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ANY GRATUITY ITEMS AT ALL!!!

USING NROTC's "CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION" WORKS GREAT!

NROTC is all about getting "Thank You For Your Service" postcards signed by good Americans and sent to our troops. We send these postcards to you free of charge. When you need to reorder these, just give us a call at 410-686-4183 or email us at nrotc@nrotc.org

You will find that many people will be happy to donate to NROTC without expecting anything in return.

NROTC recommends BUT DOES NOT REQUIRE that you have a few inexpensive gratuity items such as flag lapel pins or key chains on your table... to offer a potential donor as an incentive or a way of saying "Thank You".

YOU ARE NOT SELLING ANYTHING!!!

This is an acceptable procedure according to IRS rules but be certain to offer a gift in the proper manner.

SAY... We'll be glad to give you this "American Flag Lapel Pin or Whatever" as our way of saying THANK YOU... for your very generous donation.

DON'T SAY... American Flag Lapel Pins are $5.00 each... Got it?

If someone says "That's too much"... You reply with... "Its a donation that helps needy veterans and their families". "This gift is just our way of saying Thank You".

Having incentive items on your table makes good business sense. The old adage applies, "It takes money to make money".

A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO PURCHASING GRATUITY ITEMS IS TO USE NROTC's "CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION". PRINT OUT AND HAVE A STACK OF THEM ON YOUR TABLE.

HERE IS A LITTLE INSIDE INFORMATION FOR YOU:

On June 1st, 2013, NROTC began soliciting donations via donation tables.

Based on the last 2,686 store hours reported by our Table Reps, our average donations per hour is $38.00.

WE JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT ALL THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT GRATUITY ITEMS ON THEIR TABLES... ONLY "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE" POSTCARDS!!!... Having gratuity items on our donation tables is brand new for us and we are expecting average donations in box per hour to improve substantially!

AGAIN... WE ARE NOT REQUIRING YOU TO PURCHASE ANYTHING!!!... You can do okay with just "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE" postcards.

How much inventory of these items you have with you at a table setup is totally up to you!... Please do NOT go overboard with this. A few simple inexpensive items should work just fine.

Keep your receipts and write-off these purchases as "Unreimbursed Employee Expense".

COINSTAR:

Some of the donations you receive will be in the form of coins. We recommend that instead of counting-out these coins that you just take them to a convenient CoinStar location near you and let CoinStar do the counting for you. Run your coins through the COINSTAR machine. The CoinStar machine will give you a voucher for that amount minus the CoinStar Fee. Cash in this voucher either for cash or a money order.

FIND A COINSTAR LOCATION NEAR YOU

THE SQUARE:

Some people will write a check and others will donate using a credit card. If you have a Smart Phone we will send you "The Square" credit card swiper AT NO CHARGE and all you will need to do is install the "App". Many people are comfortable with "The Square" these days. If you do not have a Smart Phone we recommend you get one. You'll be earning more money if you have one. Please let us know if you have a SMART PHONE!

DO'S & DON'TS:

  • DO ARRIVE ON TIME or even a little early.

  • DO Look presentable. Wearing camo, patriotic t-shirts and hats IS acceptable.

  • DO Always wear your official NROTC credential whenever you are representing us.

  • DO Always have at your table at all times, proof of NROTC's 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. This is referred to as the IRS "Determination Letter". It actually consists of two letters. Put these two letters back to back in a plastic page protector and keep it with your table setup supplies.

  • DO Always have at your table, Proof of NROTC's Liability Insurance Coverage. In some cases you may be asked to provide a store manager or event promoter with this.

  • DO Always call NROTC Headquarters at 1-410-686-4183 within one half hour after you are setup at your location to let us know you have arrived safely.

  • DO Always call NROTC Headquarters at 1-410-686-4183 after breaking down your table to advise us you are leaving and how you did. If you get voicemail, leave your name, setup location, date and totals on voicemail.

  • DON'T be pushy with anyone. It is not necessary. Just be friendly. The last thing we want is for someone to go up to the service desk saying "Boy, they are really pushy out there"... Got it?

WHAT TO SAY:

What you say to people at your table is mostly up to you as long as you are being courteous, not too aggressive and not misrepresenting NROTC.

Please study our website at www.nrotc.org to internalize who we are and what we do. This way you will be able to speak with authority about us and answer questions people may ask properly.

Here is some suggested verbiage to use at your table:

Attention Getters;

  • Welcome to (Name of store or event) today

  • We're sending "Thank You" cards to our troops in Afghanistan. Sign one here.

  • Take a minute to say "Thanks" to our troops... (holding postcard)

  • We're collecting for our wounded troops and needy veterans. Can you help?

  • Please help support our Veterans Assistance Program

  • Come on (Name of town)... Let's show our troops we care.

When they come up to your table you might want to say;
(Or just let them drop a donation in your box. Many will)

  • If you ever wanted to thank one of our troops, here's your chance.

  • Write something in your own words. Make it come from your heart.

  • Tell 'em thanks, offer some encouragement, Let 'em know we support 'em from here at home.

  • Please sign your card and include your hometown and State.

Other things you might want to say;

  • We work to combat depression, PTSD and suicide. Did you know we lose 18 troops and recently returning vets to suicide. This is why boosting morale is so important and this is why we are here today. Think it out a little and write something really good here okay. (Hand them a card and pen, or clipboard)

  • We appreciate anything you can do. (Point to box)

  • When it comes to supporting troops and veterans, we can never ask for too much. The amount is up to you. How much can you donate?

WE ARE NOT ACCOUNTANTS BUT...

You may be able to write-off these expenses as " Unreimbursed Employee Expense".

  • Travel expense to and from scheduled events may be considered deductible.
