We are aware of two. Ours and that of The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps has used the NROTC acronym since its founding in 1926. We have been using it for ten years. Many matching acronyms exist these days and to avoid any confusion we are always careful here on our website, printed material and any other media to always include our name, National Remember Our Troops Campaign, whenever using our acronym.
As the acronym NSA, is used by The National Security Agency, it is also used by The National Speakers Association, The National Sheriffs’ Association, The National Stuttering Association, The National Stroke Association, National Safety Associates, The National Scrabble Association, The National Scrapbooking Association, The National Smokejumper Association, The National Student Association, The National Steeplechase Association, The National Shipping Authority, The National Sports Academy etc.
We do acknowledge The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps and the great work they do. If you are looking for them and arrived here by mistake, please visit www.nrotc.navy.mil/
Looking back as we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we realize that perhaps we could have been a little more creative when naming our organization and we do apologize for any confusion we may have created. We do not mind being referred to as the other, the little or lesser-known NROTC.
