NROTC’s Take A Veteran Fishing Program – Join In!

Taking A Veteran Fishing a great way to have some fun and show some respect!

As a way of saying Thank You to our local veterans here in the Baltimore area, we take them out fishing, crabbing or just cruising here on the upper Chesapeake Bay!

Take A Veteran FishingLarry… a Desert Storm veteran, enjoyed himself so much he is now talking about buying a boat.

Take A Veteran FishingAlva… a 92 year old WWII vet said, “No one ever did anything like this to thank me before.”

Take A Veteran FishingCarl… who served served from 77 to 84 said, “I think this is the best idea ever for vets.”

Take A Veteran FishingVince is 80 years old, served in the Army for 30 years beginning in 1950. He is confined to a wheelchair and his son Joe came along to help with getting his dad on and off the boat. The wind was up and fishing was a little slow this day although we did catch a few channel catfish. Father and son both still enjoyed themselves.

Take A Veteran FishingEd is 67 and served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967. We only fished for two hours but we caught and released 6 nice stripers. We call ’em Rockfish here on the Chesapeake Bay. Ed hasn’t been out on the water in a long time. He said that he really enjoyed himself and really enjoyed catching the fish.

Take A Veteran FishingRay is 63, a Navy vet who served on a destroyer from 67 to 72. We did manage to catch a 25″ Rockfish this day. Ray commented that he had fun fishing and that Captn Tom was very friendly and professional.

NROTC will be soon be hosting wounded troops from The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on the Beautiful Chesapeake Bay!
