Your job will be to set up and host “CARD SIGNING DONATION TABLES” in front of Walmarts and grocery stores and such. We also setup at Gun & Knife Shows, Hunting, Fishing & Outdoor Expos as well as various other community events. Anywhere there are people!
While there is work during the week, weekends are best. You MUST be willing to work on weekends. If you do not live way out in the sticks… you should be able to be working close to home.
You will need to get your own portable collapsible donation table if you don’t have one.
NROTC will coach you on how to schedule table setups from the comfort of your home… Its easy!… We provide you with a simple script to follow.
*To find places where you can obtain permission to setup your donation table, go to: yellowpages.com and search “Grocery Stores”, “Walmart”, “Sam’s Club” or whatever, in the area you plan on working.
*Or GOOGLE “Grocery Stores”, “Events and Fairs” in (State, City or whatever)” … You will not run out of places to call!
From behind your table, you will be asking passers-by to sign “Thank You For Your Service” cards that we forward to deployed troops and “Get Well Soon” cards that we send to hospitalized veterans. Most of these people are willing to drop some spare change or a dollar or two… or more… in your donation container!
*You have total control over how many table setups you do, the times, days, venue and the location of each.
Getting these cards signed and forwarding them to deployed troops and hospitalized veterans is a major part of our mission!
One guy is signing a card while the other guy fishes through his wallet for a donation.
Donations are the life’s blood of any charity and donations for the most part, do not magically drop out of the sky or arrive unsolicited. As part of our national fundraising team, you’ll be helping us accomplish our mission.
NROTC provides for expense reimbursement for certain expenses such as mileage at 25 cents per mile within 100 miles from your home, road tolls, initial table supplies, additional table supplies, any table setup or registration fees that may be charged by any event promoter and gratuity items purchased from NROTC or any other vendor.
Any and all reimbursements are limited to the amount in your donation container and receipts are required. Issuing a check in advance to a table representative or issuing a check back as reimbursement for expenses paid is not NROTC policy.
The Salvation Army raises 70 percent of its total annual income between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
While The Salvation Army has volunteers doing this job… MANY OF THEM ARE PAID MINIMUM WAGE. To read more on this, just Google: “Salvation Army + paid bell ringers”.
NROTC also prefers volunteers to host our Donation Tables although, we have found that many have been unreliable and we have learned through experience that we have better success, and it is more likely that someone will actually show-up and do a much better job, when they are being paid.
NROTC has also learned that paying Minimum Wage, oftentimes can produce negative results and it does NOT produce an incentive for someone to do a good job or even ask politely for donations. Paying Minimum Wage also makes it difficult for us to attract and retain really good employees.
Again, getting “THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE” and “GET WELL SOON” cards signed helps us accomplish an important part of our mission!… DONATION DOLLARS ARE ALSO VERY IMPORTANT!
As mentioned, passers-by your table sign and write their personal notes of thanks, support and encouragement on these cards and most are willing to drop some pocket change, a dollar or two, or more… in your donation box. You’ll be surprised at how many fives, tens and twenty’s will be in there!
Six or eight hours at a good location and donation dollars can really add up!
To encourage you to actively seek donations, NROTC pays a very generous 30% commission
* It is NOT uncommon for nonprofits to pay commissions to fundraisers.
Average earnings are typically better than Minimum Wage and are commensurate with your efforts. Location and foot-traffic DOES make a difference. This can be a great way to earn money while helping us accomplish our mission.
What we are talking about here is a job where earning $100 or more per day is the norm!
AFTER COMMISSIONS, THE BALANCE OF DONATION DOLLARS HELP TO SUPPORT NROTC’s:

*LATE MORTGAGE OR RENT PAYMENTS
*UTILITY BILL TURN-OFF NOTICES
*OVERDUE AUTO LOAN/INSURANCE PAYMENTS
*EMERGENCY DENTAL AND PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
YOUR ACTIVITY HAS LOCAL IMPACT:
To assure that this activity falls within any guidelines of any local store, community or event promoter that requires or at least wants to see that your activity is providing a LOCAL COMMUNITY SERVICE and has a positive impact within a local area, we see to it that a number of “Thank You For Your Service” Cards are sent to military bases within your local area and a number of “Get Well Soon” cards are sent to military and VA hospitals within your local area. You will be provided with “Financial Aid and Assistance Grant Applications” to hand-out from your table to any veteran in need. A portion of donation dollars raised in your area is intended to be used to help local veterans and veteran families in your area… LOCAL COMMUNITY SERVICE IS ASSURED!
Setting-up at Gun & Knife Shows, Hunting, Fishing & Outdoor Expos, community festivals, ethnic festivals, boat shows, craft shows, concerts, conventions, sporting events… this list just goes on and on… is going to put you in front of more people than you will meet standing in front of a grocery store all day, not that a grocery store is all that bad. You can earn $100 per day at a grocery store on a good day.
A weekend spent at a high foot-traffic event will obviously have the potential to net you much more!
While most of these types of events charge a registration or table fee… THE GOOD NEWS IS… that most of these event promoters are willing to allow a nonprofit to setup a table at their event AT NO COST… or at least provide a table at extreme discount… for a military and veterans charity who is getting cards signed for our troops and hospitalized veterans while raising money to support veterans in need and their families.
It usually only takes a phone call to the event promoter to explain who we are and what we do, to obtain a discount or have the table fee completely waived!
NROTC does allow you to reimburse yourself for table setup fees if any… from your donation container.

There is usually always enough in your donation container to cover these expenses.
Depending on where you live, there is probably more than one high-traffic event in your area every weekend. Finding these events and finding the event promoter’s contact information is easy to do using the internet.
Would You Like To Be A Manager?
Do a good job as a Donation Table Representative with NROTC and we may want to promote you to a Local, Divisional or Regional Manager. You will get a chance to build your own team. Managers will be required to travel within their assigned territory while managing and training.

We are excited about one fellow who is traveling the NASCAR circuit this summer hosting a Card Signing Table at every race. Being that we are a charity, many if not most major hotel and motel chains have a standard procedure of providing AT NO COST (Or providing at extreme discount)… (Comped)… rooms to traveling nonprofit fundraisers who are in their town for a night or two, to show up at conventions, trade shows, hobby and sporting events etc. Many of the major chains REQUIRE each location to provide a certain number of “comped” hours to nonprofits each year. Getting rooms “comped” anywhere in the USA is usually as easy as a phone call.
RV’ers also can be granted “comped” temporary RV Campground stays.

*You MUST have a working cell phone with you at all times when doing any table setup

Remember… What we are talking about here is a job where earning $100 or more per day is the norm!
