Issue #5, MAY 2006 Issue Date: May 4th, 2006 Total Active Subscribers: 30 From: Tom Ruley, President, NROTC Dear Readers, Welcome to our monthly newsletter. This newsletter is viewed by the general public entering from our website and is emailed directly to our subscribers. If you haven't subscribed yet, please do so. As a subscriber, you will be informed monthly on our charitable activity. Its easy, just look for the sign up area on the left margin of our website. Our NROTC Treasurer and Board of Trustees member, John Totty, suffered a heart attack not too long ago. I am glad to report that he is still among the living and doing fine. John has just joined the "Stent Club" along with myself, a Stent Club member going on ten years now. It changes your outlook on things doesn't it John. We were approved to solicit donations in the State of Colorado this past month. Just recently, we found a very touching short video clip made available by Anheuser Busch and put it up on the "cable enabled home page" of our website. We recommend that you visit our website again and check out this video, even if you only have dial up connection and must wait awhile for it to load. We think you will find this clip to be very moving and it might even draw a tear. We are still a very new organization. April donations totalled a whopping $75.00. Fortunately banner requests did not put a major hurting on us and we have not had to put anyone on a waiting list yet. We are now beginning to hire "Work At Home" telemarketers to conduct our fundraising. Each of you reading this can do NROTC a really big favor by going to our website and looking for the banner link to R. Lee Ermey. You know, the Marine Drill Sergeant from the history channel... Please click his banner and give NROTC a vote!... It moves us up higher on his link back list and will help us get more visitors on our website!... You are allowed to vote every 24 hours and voting for us daily or at least often will REALLY BE APPRECIATED!... It was our honor to fulfill 19 Blue Star Service Banner requests in April. One of these banners had two stars. Also this month it was our extreme honor to deliver a gold star service banner to the surviving family of a brave young U.S. Army soldier named Matthew Ronquillo of Chicago, Illinois. Rest in heavenly eternal peace Matthew. Immediately below is a list of the homes that are now proudly displaying a Blue Star Service Banner. We pray that your loved ones return home safe, and soon. For privacy reasons and as a matter of military secrecy, we do not publish the names, only the addresses. Thank you for reading. That is all, Tom Ruley, President, NROTC
Special Note: On June 2nd, 2006 NROTC decided that in order to further protect all of our service banner donees from anyone, including domestic terrorists who may want to do them harm, that we will no longer publish their actual street number. We have gone back into our five previous "The NROTC News" newsletters including this issue and deleted the street numbers. Due to the fact that we are at war and not everyone supports our troops, we believe we have made the right decision.
