One of the Best Ways To Support Troops and Veterans is to Host A Fundraiser Event
JUST DO SOMETHING!
We do our part to help them and we applaud the efforts of other groups.
There are also over ten times that many, over 154,000 veterans who are homeless on a typical night in America.
Over the course of a year, approximately twice that many experience homelessness. Nearly 20 percent of military service members who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, (300,000 in all), report symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, (PTSD) or major depression. Government money is limited and many veterans have fallen through the cracks. Suicides among active-duty troops and recently returning veterans is now an alarming 18 per day.
You can help by sponsoring, hosting or doing almost any type of fundraising event!
It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much money you have, where you live or how talented you are…. and it really doesn’t matter what you do, except for a few limitations which are explained in your Volunteer Agreement… JUST DO SOMETHING!
Any type of event you do will most probably give you an opportunity to have people at your event sign our “Thank You For Your Service” Cards and “Get Well Soon” Cards, while adding their warm personal, hand-written notes of support and encouragement. Getting these really great cards signed by Americans everywhere is a major part of our overall mission, so we hope that as part of your event, you will plan on hosting at least one “Card Signing Donation Table”. Rather than planning an event, you may be more comfortable just setting-up hosting a single “Card Signing Donation Table” at school, at work, at a Walmart or grocery store, a church, a community event or wherever there are people!
Your event DOES NOT need to have a “Card Signing” Donation Table!
A FUNDRAISING EVENT CAN BE…
*A business or employer sponsored event.
*A school event
*A club sponsored event
*An event held at your local VFW or American Legion
*A patriotic event or community rally centered around 9-11, a veterans or other holiday.
*A bake sale, A yard sale, A motor cycle ride, car show, pasta dinner, fishing tournament, concert, dance, bull roast etc. This list and the possibilities just goes on and on.
Use Your Imagination!
Your passions and hobbies are unique so consider hosting a one-of-a-kind fundraising effort for your community pertaining to your likes or skills and what works for you.
Keeping It Local:
To assure that your activity has a positive impact in your local area, we see to it that a number of “Thank You For Your Service” Cards are sent to military bases within your local area and a number of “Get Well Soon” cards are sent to military and VA hospitals within your local area. You can even do us a big favor by distributing these cards for us! Take these cards to your local military and/or veteran facilities. Hand them out personally, take pictures and send your pictures to us by email or smartphone. See yourself supporting our troops and veterans here on our website!
You will also be provided with “Financial Aid and Assistance Grant Applications” to hand-out from your table to any veteran in need. A portion of donation dollars raised in your area is intended to be used to help local veterans and veteran families in your community… LOCAL COMMUNITY SERVICE IS ASSURED!
